THE
SNAKE
Driving
along Route 209 in PA yesterday I listened to “60s on 6” on SiriusXM Radio. One of the songs Phlash Phelps played was THE
SNAKE.
THE
SNAKE is a song released by American singer Al Wilson in 1968.
As
Wikipedia explains -
“The song tells the story of a kind and
tender woman who finds a frozen snake on the ground on her way to work one
morning. The snake begs the woman to take it home and take care of it. She
obliges and takes the snake to her home and puts it by the fireplace with a
silk blanket, some honey, and some milk. When she gets home from work later
that evening, she finds that the snake is now warm and revived. Feeling happy
for the snake's recovery, she picks it up and gives it a tight hug and kisses
it on the head. However, the snake is actually vicious and gives the woman a
bite, fatally poisoning her.”
It
reminded me of Donald T Rump and the Republicans.
There
will no doubt come a point when the Republican Party will finally acknowledge the
proven fact that Trump is an ignorant and incompetent and totally self-absorbed
and self-interested demagogue, with no concern whatsoever for American or the
Republican Party.
They
will wonder why Trump betrayed the Republican Party, America and the American
people - actually killing the once Grand Ole Party that had embraced, supported and defended him.
To
paraphrase the bottom line of the song -
"Shut
up silly Republican! You knew damn well Trump was a crook and a conman and a
totally worthless piece of shit before you voted for him!"
