ANOTHER
REPUBLICAN LIE
We
have been constantly reminded by Republicans lately that 63 Million Americans
voted for Trump for President in 2016, as if to indicate Trump was put in the White House by the “will of the people”.
It
is true that Trump received almost 63 Million votes in 2016. But he was clearly not the people’s choice.
Here
are the results of the 2016 Presidential election –
Donald
J. Trump
|
Republican
|
62,985,134
|
Hillary Clinton
|
Democratic
|
65,853,652

TOTAL

You
can see that while Trump got about 63 Million votes Clinton got 66 Million
votes! Trump got 46% of the popular vote - but Clinton got 48%.
Of
the 137 Million Americans who voted for President in 2016 74 Million voted
against Trump. So, 11 Million more
Americans voted AGAINST Trump than for Trump.
Trump
was put in office by the outdated Electoral College, not by the people. Ironically,
one of the reasons the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College was,
according to “Why the Electoral College” from HISTORY CENTRAL, because “they feared a tyrant could
manipulate public opinion and come to power”. So, one of the main reasons for the existence of
the Electoral College is to keep a dangerous demagogue like Trump out of the
White House. It obviously does not work. What it can do is negate the
actual “will of the people”, as it clearly did in 2016.
So, Republicans, your argument that the Democrats
are trying to undo the “will of the people” through impeachment is, like
everything that comes out of the mouth of Trump, a lie.
